Die Nationalteams Belgien/Flandern

Belgium is, for foreign observers, sometimes a complicated country, consisting of 3 communities, the Flemish, the Wallonian and the German speaking. Sports is a matter in which the three communities are autonomous. On the international level, the Belgian Handball Federation is in charge of the senior team, the U21 and the U19 teams. Earlier selections are handled by the autonomous communities

A-Jugend , U19

Die U 19 Auswahl wird zusammen gestellt aus den besten Spieler Flanderns, Walloniens und dem Deutsch sprechenden Landesteilen. Sie haben an den Euro Qualifikationen 2010 teilgenommen und werden im Juli 2011 bei den European Open in Schweden spielen. Dank der kurzen Entfernungen in Belgien kommen die Spieler regelmäßig zum Training zusammen. Einige der Spieler spielen bereits in der ersten Division.

The U19 selection is the Belgian selection, composed of the best players from Flanders, Wallonia and the German speaking community. They have participated already once at Euro qualifiers, in 2010, and will compete in July 2011 at the European Open in Sweden. Thanks to the relatively small distances in Belgium, the players gather regularly for training sessions, friendly games and follow an individual additional power training schedule. Some of the players are already active in the Belgian first division.

B-Jugend, U17

Die U17 Auswahl ist die Flämisch Auswahl der Topsport Handball Schule in Hasselt. Etwa 50 Studenten trainieren hier neben einer Higschool-Ausbildung 15 Stunden Handball in der Woche. Sie nahmen in 2010 an einem internationalen Turnier in Belgrad teil. Seit dieser Saison spielt das Team regelmäßig in der Belgischen Junioren Liga U21.

The U17 selection is the Flemish selection. Flanders has a handball school, Topsportschool Handbal, based in Hasselt. Some 50 students (age 12 to 18) combine their highschool education with about 15 hours per week of handball and physical training. The U17 participated in December 2010 at the international tournament of Belgrade (SER). Since this season the team competes weekly in the Belgian Junior (U21) Championship as a selection, and play their games on weekday evenings.

C-Jugend, U15

Die U15 Auswahl setzt sich ebenfalls aus Spielern der Topsport Schule zusammen. Dieses Turnier wir ihr erstes gemeinsames internationales Turnier sein. Wir sind gespannt.

The U15 selection is the Flemish selection as well, composed of the players of the Topsportschool Handbal. The tournament in Nordhorn will be their first international experience as such, so they are all looking forward to it.
